Savi Technology to use Fortress Technologies’ wireless data encryption to enhance security of U.S. Department of Defense cargo
Savi Technology, a provider of real-time solutions for the management, monitoring and security of supply chain assets, will use Fortress Technologies’ wireless data encryption technology to further enhance security of data transmissions within the DoD’s Total Asset Visibility network. The announcement was made at Frontline’s International Supply Chain Week Conference & Expo in Chicago.
Fortress Technologies was selected by Savi Technology for its data encryption security solution as part of the company’s multi-year procurement contract with the DoD. Under the contract, Savi Technology is providing the DoD with radio frequency identification (RFID) hardware along with related logistics software and services.
“We partnered with Fortress Technologies because of its leadership in wireless security technology and its proven track record of successful implementations in highly-sensitive environments within the federal government and the DoD,” says Steven Farrell, director, hardware product management, Savi Technology. “We’re continuously improving the capabilities of the TAV network, and our relationship with Fortress is another example of how we’re accomplishing this.”
Fortress Technologies and Savi Technology are collaborating to offer existing Savi Technology customers an effective security system to help maintain high levels of wireless network security, user privacy, access control, encryption and device and user authentication.
The Total Asset Visibility network is the world’s largest active cargo tracking system, which monitors and manages up to 300,000 supply shipments through over 750 locations in more than 40 countries. The technology and infrastructure developed for TAV also is leveraged for the global commercial shipping community as part of Smart and Secure Tradelanes, an industry initiative to improve the security and efficiency of transporting cargo containers and their contents.
