GlobeRanger, a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) and mobility software solutions based in Richardson, Texas, and OMI International, a Chicago supplier of supply chain management solutions, have formed a technology sharing OEM agreement. GlobeRanger has also allied with Manhattan Associates, a provider of supply chain execution solutions, to develop a tight integration between their products and closely align the two companies’ mobile and application strategies.

Under the terms of the OEM agreement, OMI intends to resell GlobeRanger’s Inbound/Outbound wireless application branded as SupplyVision, as well as develop RFID and additional mobile applications on GlobeRanger’s iMotion platform.

“Adding wireless logistics and RFID capabilities to extend our product suite beyond the four-walls of the warehouse is what our customers are looking for,” says Dick Oksanen, president of OMI International. “This will continue the closed-loop supply chain process that has distinguished OMI in the industry.”

“GlobeRanger’s platform and applications were designed for the transportation and distribution process, so it was a natural fit for OMI’s broad-based retail and grocery market segments,” says Larry Chandler, GlobeRanger’s director of business alliances. “OMI has existing customer demand for wireless and RFID solutions today.”

Key initiatives are under way with the Manhattan Associates alliance as well. They include Manhattan Associates developing mobile applications on GlobeRanger’s iMotion platform and offering GlobeRanger’s wireless Inbound/Outbound Logistics application. GlobeRanger has completed Manhattan Associates ISV Certification Program.

GlobeRanger’s iMotion 4.0 platform simplifies the development, deployment and management of integrated RFID and mobile applications.

Built on Microsoft’s .NET Framework, iMotion incorporates Auto-ID Savant functionality with extensive capabilities for transforming real-time data from the edge of the enterprise into actionable information.

iMotion serves as the foundation for integrated RFID and Mobile solutions, providing platform runtime, software development kit (SDK), application component libraries and visual development tools. Application developers and systems integrators can leverage iMotion to develop, deploy and manage RFID and mobile solutions. The platform integrates a variety of fixed and mobile devices, from bar code scanners to RFID readers, remote sensors, and control system actuators.

“The emergence of mobile applications to extend business logic and processes are redefining real-time responsiveness,” says Eric Peters, Manhattan Associates’ senior vice president of product strategy, marketing and alliances. “Our partnership with GlobeRanger will immediately extend our mobility strategy, delivering enhanced value to our customers for real-time collaboration, execution and optimization.”

“Mobility capabilities are enabling the transformation of real-time data from the edge of the enterprise into executable information for operational excellence,” said John Koenigs, president and CEO of GlobeRanger. “Our alliance with Manhattan will rapidly generate solutions that leverage mobile technologies to drive value across the supply chain.”
